Over the past twelve years, the Kenburn Carpet Crusher has helped hundreds of flooring companies recycle their new and uplifted carpet and undelay waste and at the same time reduce their ever-increasing waste disposal costs.
Recycling new and uplifted post consumer carpet and underlay waste costs less than landfill
Recent “Eco Warriors” who now recycle their waste include.
Rodgers Carpets Frodsham, DS Flooring Solutions Redditch, Allans Furniture and Flooring Warehouse Glasgow, Flooring Matters Newton Abbot and JC Flooring Contractors Hoddesdon.
The Kenburn Carpet Crusher isn’t only for flooring companies though, ABI Holiday Homes are the largest manufacturer of static caravans in the UK and they’ve recently taken delivery of a carpet crusher for their polyprop off cut waste.
Their materials will be going to Innovate Recycle in Northampton who are the only plant in the UK with the technology to convert new clean dry polyprop carpet waste into plastic pellets.
These pellets are then used by plastic injection moulding companies to produce products for the automotive industry.
What’s even more impressive is the fact that Innovate Recycle don’t charge a processing fee for recycling target material, the only cost involved is the transport to Northampton, so in theory your polyprop carpet waste can be recycled free of charge.
Company background
Kenburn Waste Management has been established since 1987, so it has nearly 40 years of experience in helping companies of all sizes manage their waste more efficiently. You’ll see on the kenburn web site www.kenburn.co.uk a wide portfolio of waste compacting machinery ranging in price from £2,500.00 to £250,000.00. You’ll also notice that Carpet Crushers don’t feature prominently on its site.
Recycling initiative viability
One of the many reasons the carpet crusher recycling initiative has been so successful, is the fact that it’s not something Kenburn has had to rely on for sales, so the company’s approach is therefore very simple.
The Kenburn sales team just ask a few questions about the amount of waste you generate, the size of your skip, what your current skip costs are and how many pallets are you able to store.
From this information the company can easily establish whether recycling will be of benefit to you. If, for example, you have a couple of Biffa wheelie bins emptied once a week, Kenburn will tell you that its scheme isn’t right for you.
Kenburn are not environmentalists, so while recycling carpet waste is far better than sending it to landfill, installing a Kenburn Carpet Crusher must be financially viable.
Customer feedback
The feedback Kenburn receives from customers is always positive, because by introducing a ‘’zero to landfill’’ waste policy you’ll improve your sales conversion rates as the public respond enthusiastically to environmentally friendly initiatives.
Not just carpet
As well as carpet and underlay, the carpet crusher will also compact cardboard and plastic wrapping as well, and these materials are collected free of charge and can also generate revenue dependent on volume.
Site visits
The carpet crusher recycling scheme has UK coverage, and its customers go as far North as Inverness and as far South as Southampton.
Recycling costs vary due to 3 factors.
Your proximity to the recycling plant which will have an effect on the cost of transport.
How many pallets you are able to store.
The percentage split between new polyprop offcuts/old, uplifted carpet and underlay waste.
Kenburn’s team of experts can visit your site and discuss how the materials will be collected, what happens to the materials and where your nearest recycling plant is based.
The company’s site visit service is free of charge without obligation, and it can tell you what the recycling costs would be so that you can compare these costs with your current costs.
You really have nothing to lose by finding out if recycling will work for you.
The Flooring Show
For the 10th consecutive year, the Kenburn Carpet Crusher stand will be at The Flooring Show in Harrogate, this year in Hall C, where the team will be happy to answer any questions.
If you’re not planning on visiting this year’s show but are keen to “go green” please contact Kenburn directly for more information.
