Karndean launches Knight Tile Curio

Karndean Designflooring has announced the launch of Knight Tile Curio, a bold new addition to its Knight Tile collection that reimagines what patterned floor can look and feel like. It is a significant evolution for the Knight Tile range, bringing personality-driven design to a new generation of homeowners. Plus, launching alongside is the Empire Marble tile, a striking version of the popular black and white chequerboard marble look.

Pattern as play
Knight Tile Curio is built around a single idea: that pattern should feel like play, not pressure. Each 9 x 9” tile carries a tessellated geometric design that, by its nature, creates pattern through repetition. Rather than requiring different tiles, complex layouts or a designer’s eye, by simply rotating the Curio tiles or experimenting with orientation, an almost infinite range of personalised outcomes can be achieved. It is what design-forward homeowners are calling pattern rotation: the ability to engineer a completely personal floor from a single tile, with nothing more than a change of direction.
The effect is somewhere between a puzzle and a design studio. It’s approachable, immediate and deeply engaging for style-conscious homeowners who want their spaces to feel genuinely individual, not off-the-shelf. Available in four colourways (Sage, Navy, Graphite and Terracotta), Curio has been designed to work across kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and living rooms.

One tile, endless possibilities
What sets Curio apart is its fundamental design premise: that complexity of outcome doesn’t have to mean complexity of process. Unlike patterned encaustic tiles or parquet flooring, Curio doesn’t require specialist installation, complicated cutting or design expertise to achieve a result that looks considered and creative. The compact 9” x 9” format is particularly well-suited to smaller spaces, adding feature and interest without overwhelming a room. And the tessellated geometric design gives it a modern, shareable quality that sits naturally in the homes of pattern-lovers no matter their style: bold enough to anchor a colour drenching scheme, graphic enough to hold its own in a maximalist interior, and versatile enough to work with natural, muted tones where the floor does the talking.

Empire Marble: bold simplicity
Launching alongside Curio is Empire Marble, a 12” x 12” black and white marble-look tile that delivers one of interior design’s most enduring classics, the chequerboard floor, as part of Karndean’s Knight Tile range. Every box of Empire Marble contains an equal number of black and white tiles, removing the guesswork from calculating quantities and making a balanced chequerboard layout straightforward to achieve without specialist installation knowledge. The marble look is crafted with Karndean’s characteristic attention to surface detail, delivering the elegance of stone without the cost, weight or maintenance demands of the real thing.

The Knight Tile range
Knight Tile Curio and Empire Marble are both part of Karndean’s affordable Knight Tile range. Both designs work across a spectrum of interior styles: use them to anchor a colour drenching scheme, to introduce pattern into a maximalist layered space, or to let the floor become the focal point against pared-back, neutral surroundings. Like all Karndean floors, they are 100% waterproof, scratch and scuff resistant, and warmer and quieter underfoot than real ceramic tiles. Both new designs are available in gluedown format and are backed by Karndean’s lifetime residential warranty.

“Knight Tile Curio has been carefully developed to offer something distinctive while remaining easy to understand and simple to work with in store, explains Richard Allen, VP of retail sales at Karndean Designflooring.

He said: “It is about helping retailer partners present pattern in a way that feels approachable and inspiring, without adding complexity for either the retailer or the customer. Alongside this, Empire Marble offers a more classic route into patterned flooring, giving retailers a balanced and considered choice across the range.

“With our innovative Xplore and Xplore+ displays, we are focused on making it as straightforward as possible to introduce these designs in store, supporting clearer, more informed conversations with Customers.”
