Abingdon Flooring showcased a varied collection of new and established products at this year’s Flooring Show, with launches designed to meet demand for everything from practical, wool-look carpets to more luxurious, indulgent styles.
Among the highlights were Dalesman and Cottage, two additions to the company’s Stainfree brand. Made in Wales using polypropylene, the ranges aim to replicate the appearance of wool while offering the practical benefits of a synthetic fibre. Both are bleach cleanable and come with Stainfree for Life protection.
Dalesman features a three-ply yarn construction, creating a beautifully defined texture with a substantial, wool-inspired appearance. Available in both Berber and plain colour options, the range offers a versatile choice for interiors seeking a natural aesthetic with the reassurance of easy maintenance.
Cottage Weave features a tightly constructed 5/32” loop pile, delivering a neat, refined texture with a distinctive woven appearance. With a choice of designs including herringbone, cobbled and woven effects, the collection combines traditional character with a contemporary colour palette, offering a practical alternative to natural wool carpets.
Both ranges attracted considerable interest from visitors and are now ready to reach retailers, with sampling and point-of-sale materials prepared for distribution over the coming month. The rationale behind the launches reflects two important considerations for consumers: style and practicality. Wool-look carpets remain popular, but wool can be more demanding to maintain and often comes at a higher price. By recreating the aesthetic in polypropylene, Abingdon aims to offer retailers an attractive alternative for customers who want the look without the associated cost and maintenance concerns.
Abingdon also previewed Pure Opulence, a new addition to its Stainfree portfolio designed to take softness and luxury to another level. Building on the yarn used in the popular Pure Elegance range, the new carpet combines a fuller, more luxurious yarn with an enhanced construction to create a dense, exceptionally soft finish. Its muted colour palette and sumptuous texture proved a talking point on the stand, with a planned launch in the first quarter of next year.
The company’s Love Story collection also featured prominently, with Pure Velvet offering a heavyweight, velvet-inspired carpet in understated shades. Backed by a 15-year wear warranty, it combines a luxurious feel with bleach-cleanable and stain-resistant properties, making it an appealing option for consumers prioritising comfort without compromising on practicality.
Across the portfolio, Abingdon emphasised the importance of catering to different budgets without losing sight of quality and style. With consumers increasingly conscious of prices, the manufacturer is working to provide options ranging from practical, affordable carpets to premium products for those looking to invest in a more luxurious finish.
Its in-house manufacturing capabilities and product development expertise remain central to this approach, enabling the company to adapt its offering to changing tastes and price expectations.
From the wool-inspired practicality of Dalesman and Cottage Weave to the indulgent softness of Pure Opulence and Pure Velvet, Abingdon’s Harrogate line-up demonstrated its commitment to giving retailers a broad choice of products for an evolving market.
