Unilin increases recycled content of vinyl flooring

Dryback and rigid click vinyl flooring from Unilin now comes with more pre-consumer recycled content, as it continues towards a target of 40% by 2040.

Since it was founded in 1960, Unilin has pioneered circular production. Waste PVC from within its own production has been used since day one, reducing reliance on virgin material and keeping it in the loop. Relying on internal production waste alone has limitations in terms of material availability though, so Unilin launched its Recover programme to take back post-industrial PVC from other industries, as well as installation off-cuts and old floors.

As a result of the growth of Recover in collecting external PVC waste, in just a single year, the pre-consumer recycled content of Unilin’s dryback (glue-down) vinyl flooring has increased from 21% to at least 24% (SCS-R-20325). Rigid click vinyl has also risen from 22% to minimum 25% pre-consumer recycled content (SCS-R-20324). Importantly, this recycled content has been independently certified by SCS Global Services.

Third-party verification by SCS Global Services demonstrates Unilin’s commitment to being transparent about the materials used in its flooring and fairly reporting on its progression as it strives towards 40% recycled content in its vinyl planks and tiles by 2040.
