Cavalier Carpets is moving with the times! Though the company is traditionally known for its high-quality wool ranges, synthetics are too big a market to ignore, and to meet this demand Cavalier has unveiled a new polypropylene collection as well as a polyester range. “The biggest market is PP,” explains Sales Director Hans Lowe, “and you have to keep up with the times.”
Of course, just because the company is focusing on synthetics for its new launches, that doesn’t mean it’s willing to sacrifice any of the quality associated with the Cavalier brand. The polypropylene range is aimed at retail and light contract, with a tight construction offering higher durability than is typical for the fibre. The Polyester Saxony range introduced at the show is notably soft and durable, Hans explains, behaving closer to a wool range than many of its synthetic competitors.
As a supporter of the Campaign for Wool, Cavalier is by no means abandoning the natural fibre, recolouring several of its best-selling ranges for this year’s Harrogate. Cosmopolitan, Pennine Heathers and Country Collection all saw recolours to bring them in line with current trends. “In wool, without question, greys are out,” says Hans.
The family business was established over 50 years ago in 1971 by Hans’ father who grew Cavalier Carpets “from nothing,” and is currently run jointly by the three Lowe brothers. The company’s adaptability, versatility and focus on quality mean that no matter what trends affect the carpet market, it will be able to meet the challenge.
