Sustainable luxury

Flooring trends continue to evolve, with a focus on natural materials, sustainability, luxury vinyl, and creative designs.
This year we have seen interior design trends begin to move away from ‘grey and shiny’ to create interiors that are more ‘muted and textured’, using a range of natural elements. Versatile and suitable for all around the home. The recently launched Hampstead range by Cormar is a classic, heavyweight wool twist carpet made using Pure New Wool and available in a palette of popular plain and heather shades including classic neutrals alongside some bolder tones, providing a stylish and practical base for interior design schemes.
Wool textures also remain a firm favourite as a way of adding an additional element of depth to homes. Stair runners using wool loop ranges are becoming increasingly popular as a way of adding style, safety and comfort to a staircase. The addition of a canvas taped border provides another dimension to a staircase and offers the opportunity to bring in a co-ordinating or contrasting colour.
“Made from 100% Pure New Wool, Cormar’s recently
launched wool loop ranges Fairisle and Malabar Two Fold,
are a great option for stairs and hallways,"

Complementary of any décor thanks to their neutral colour palette, the natural hues of a wool loop carpet warm up any space and work well with the surrounding interior, making it a great long-term choice. Made from 100% Pure New Wool, Cormar’s recently launched wool loop ranges Fairisle and Malabar Two Fold, are a great option for stairs and hallways, making a design statement while also being practical.
Amtico is all about embracing the latest trends while offering timeless and enduring LVT flooring that will last in terms of durability as well as design. This year in 2023, the two buzzwords are authenticity and simplicity with craftsmanship at its core. Interiors have become more refined, soothing and cocooning than ever before and as customers look to bring the beauty and texture of nature into their homes, Amtico has it covered with hyper-realistic wood and stone effects.

Stone styles have moved on from the country cottage look to Serene Spaces with a more contemporary feel. The result is a more natural, softer tone with the chalky pale hues of Tumbled Stones & Tones alongside simple yet sophisticated concrete looks. Heavier texture can also be introduced with Amtico’s realistic natural wood designs that offer everything from Heritage Oaks to Powdered, Muted and Mulled Oak.
For those who favour a maximalist approach, the Retro Revival sees colourful block prints and abstract design while laying patterns such as Parquet and Basket Weave allow for even greater design possibilities.

Adam Carpets report that the desire to cocoon ourselves in our homes has been a trend driver throughout 2023. As we head into the autumn and winter season, warmth, comfort, and relaxation are at the forefront of interior design decisions. Whether it’s immersing ourselves in joyful colour or introducing silk in soft tactile materials for a more literal cocooning effect.
Winning Gold in the Flooring Innovation Awards, their Geometric Collection is the perfect example of how pattern and tactile furnishings create this desired feeling. Their Cascade design is inspired by waves of water, known to evoke feelings of calm and relaxation. This would be a perfect addition in any room and available in a calm, mindfulness palette of colourways.
Kelly Butler, head of design at Adam Carpets explains,
“Natural textures are favoured over cold hard surfaces. Raw woods, rattan, straw, and cork are intrinsic to creating a soothing and restorative ambience. Our Parquet design fits completely into this trend of tactile, natural texture.

"Using lines and colour in a 3D way creates an all-over stylish
design that is a textile embodiment of one of floorings recent
biggest trends”.
Suitable for heavy domestic, the Geometrics Collection by Adam Carpets is available in 4m and 5m widths. The four designs - Cascade, Nexus, Parquet, and Enigma come in a range of contemporary colourways and are all made in Adam Carpets own factory in Kidderminster, using 80% British wool and 20% nylon for ultimate comfort and durability.
New flooring is the ultimate feel-good factor for any room. That’s why
in recent years it’s become more important than ever to create homes that offer peace, calm and tranquillity as well as giving rooms that personal touch with LVT flooring that complements and enhances the space that surrounds it.

Karndean Designflooring report that in the world of flooring, neutral hues like ‘greige’, ‘ivory beige’ and ‘rose washed’ have taken a leap forward and are now among the most popular tones to consider when looking for a new luxury vinyl floor.
Gavin Smith, marketing director at Karndean Designflooring explains, “New neutrals are not pushing grey out completely, but they’re certainly proving popular and it’s no secret that neutrals are
essential if you want to create a clean and classic look in your
home. What can you expect? We predict your customers will
be looking for warming neutral tones that create a grounding, calming space such as beiges, clean oaks, and ivory limestones.
“Floors that connect us with nature have never been more important when looking to achieve a sense of mindfulness in the home. Look to our newly updated Van Gogh collection to share earthy, calming colours. The all-time favourite range now presents a total of 70 unique designs in a range of warm, neutral, and cool colour palettes to suit individual tastes, from traditional English country style to modern minimalist.
“It’s all about toasty shades this Autumn/Winter and getting
cosy. Not forgetting herringbone with its timeless and classic appeal. We continue to see demand for our 18” x 3” small plank herringbones, but our slightly larger 28” x 7” herringbones are proving popular for larger open plan spaces or achieving the herringbone style with less detailing.”

It’s no surprise that Hugh Mackay Carpets won the Gold Innovations for Natural Carpets with their Durham Alternates, an extension of the Durham twist ranges. Available in 10 popular shades that correspond with their twist, this easy-to-use collection is sure to be a firm favourite. As is their Natural Origins collection - a 100% Wool Loop available in eight natural shades, each available in herringbone, boucle and rib design, 4m and 5m width.
Hugh Mackay also updated their Axminster Tartan Naturals and Tartanesque collections and launched new Harrison Tartan and Jasper collections. As well as offering consumers ultimate choice with their infinity custom Axminister designs with a minimum order quantity of only 25 square meters.
Not to be missed is Hugh MacKay’s Deco collection which includes fifteen Plains, four Two Tone designs, four Pinstripe, six Candy Stripes, three Flatweave Boucle’s, three Flatweave Herringbone’s and eight Flatweave Jacquard’s – all 43 SKUs are made with 100% wool.
