Family future for QEP

QEP UK has completed a successful management buyout of the major designer, manufacturer and distributor of a broad range of tiling, flooring and underlay installation solutions


All of the UK business assets of US owner Q.E.P. Co., Inchave been acquired by the Boyce Family Group. 


Paul and Sarah Boyce have been associated for many years with some of these industry leading brands. Paul has been a member of QEP’s group management team for the past 14 years, having most recently served on the US Board of Directors as CEO of International Operations.


Paul Boyce, CEO of QEP UK Holdings Limited, said:
“This acquisition is a significant milestone for our company
and for me personally, having started my career in the industry
over 30 years ago and having worked closely with all of these
brands throughout that period. As we embark on this new chapter,
I am really excited about the opportunities to build on this
successful foundation, leveraging our combined strengths with
QEP-US to drive greater success and deliver even more value
to our customers and stakeholders.”


The acquisition will allow QEP-UK to focus on its key business units, product categories and portfolio of highly recognised home improvement brands such as QEP, Roberts, Vitrex, Tile Rite, Plasplugs, Homelux, XPS Foam and Kraus. QEP-UK will continue to concentrate on the needs of UK DIYers, contractors and professionals, growing through both UK-focused and worldwide innovation.


QEP-UK is headquartered in Burton on Trent with distribution and manufacturing locations in the Midlands, North West and North Wales.

Industry body unveils “Plan for Growth” to Government

The British Furniture Confederation (BFC), the public affairs umbrella body of furniture and beds, furnishings and flooring sector trade associations, has unveiled its new Plan for Growth. The document is said to support BFC’s advocacy across four key pillars: skills and education; trade and exports; standards and regulations; and the environment and circular economy. It has been developed over the past few months, the organisation says, evolving from a combination of position papers written by the associations’ executives and a comprehensive survey of their collective members.

Furniture spend up 2.4% with Barclaycard

Consumer card spending grew 1.0% year-on-year in February – lower than January’s 1.9% increase and less than the latest CPIH inflation rate of 3.9%, according to recent figures reported by Barclays. Floorcoverings up 0.6% in January

Based on data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), carpets and other floorcoverings saw inflation of 0.6% in January, though this is set against a 2.5% fall last month. In January of last year the same category saw a 0.5% decline.
