Recofloor drives circular economy with new flooring reuse initiative

Recofloor, the UK’s leading vinyl flooring recycling take-back scheme funded by leading UK flooring manufacturers Altro and Polyflor, continues to set the standard for circular economy practices across the sector. Since its launch, the scheme has successfully diverted more than 8,200 tonnes of vinyl flooring waste from landfill, demonstrating the power of industry collaboration in reducing environmental impact.
Building on this success, Recofloor is now driving forward an even more impactful circular approach by supporting its members to donate surplus flooring for reuse – creating economic, environmental and social value across the supply chain.

This initiative marks an important step change for the flooring industry. By prioritising reuse before recycling, Recofloor is helping move materials further up the waste hierarchy, ensuring that usable flooring is given a second life instead of entering traditional waste streams prematurely.

Carla Eslava, Recofloor Manager, says: “This initiative is an important milestone for the flooring industry. By prioritising reuse alongside recycling, we are helping our members unlock greater value from materials while significantly reducing waste.”
