With a recognised skills shortage across the flooring industry, access to high quality, practical training has never been more important. In response, the Karndean Training Academy is introducing a more flexible and accessible approach to learning for 2026, designed to support fitters, contractors and retail partners at every stage of their journey.
From those taking their first steps in the trade to experienced professionals looking to refine their expertise, Karndean Training Academy courses are built around real application. Training focuses on delivering hands on knowledge that can be applied immediately on-site. The introduction of a new pay in three option further enhances accessibility, allowing fitters and retail partners to spread the cost of training and invest in their development with greater confidence. By removing financial barriers, this approach makes it easier to prioritise skills progression alongside day-to-day business demands.
Karndean Training Academy offers a clear, structured programme. Level 1 is ideal for beginners, covering essential skills such as subfloor preparation, templating and straight lay plank and tile installation. Level 2 builds on this foundation, introducing 45-degree installation with perimeter borders, design strips for grout effects and an introduction to herringbone. Level 3 provides the opportunity to focus on herringbone or basketweave, alongside stair preparation, installation and intricate scribing techniques.
The Heritage course further enhances this offering, providing an introduction to the Heritage collection, alongside detailed guidance on adhesives, layout planning, border alignment and complex design installation.
Together, these courses enable fitters to build confidence, refine technique and consistently deliver high quality luxury vinyl flooring installations.
