Hathaway Flooring is an independent, family-owned wholesaler, described by Managing Director Andrew Quinn as “small but fast-expanding”. At this year’s Flooring Show, it wasn’t hard to see why, with the breadth of the company’s offering and the proactive approach of its team.
“This year, we’ve expanded into West Yorkshire,” Andrew tells The Stocklists. “With the addition of new products, we’ve found the show a lot more positive and we’ve attracted a lot more people to the stand.”
Founded back in 2008, Hathaway Flooring has grown year-on-year by anticipating and keeping on top of product trends. For example, Andrew explains, there’s recently been a significant amount of interest in polyester carpet, and the company is able to cater to that market with a number of ranges. Hathaway has also expanded its hard flooring range with a laminate product in a chevron pattern, which received “brilliant feedback and a lot of orders” at this year’s show.
Another key component of the company’s strategy is excellent customer service and pricing, thanks to its low overheads. It also helps to protect its customers’ margins by rebranding all of its products. “You’ve always got the influence of online sales, people devaluing products,” Andrew explains, “so we try to work against that and give the shops a chance to get a better margin.”
