Carpet Museum launches summer exhibition
Kidderminster's Museum of Carpet has announced an exceptional exhibition of historic and contemporary designs and a commemoration of The Queen's Jubilee.
The "Magnificent Design" exhibition opens on July 2 and runs until September 3, and alongside the displays there will be a series of activities including spinning lessons for all ages and children's weaving workshops plus a walking tour of the carpet history of Kidderminster.
On July 21 there will be an illustrated talk featuring iconic and inspirational carpets from the collection, and a showcase event of the exhibition will be a talk by renowned textile designer Margo Selby about pushing the boundaries of weaving to create contemporary stylish fabrics and flooring. Coinciding with the summer exhibtion will be a special display created to celebrate the Queen’s 2022 Platinum Jubilee and her 70 years of service. It features a fascinating collection of commemorative picture rugs, photographs and other memorabilia.
