Styles from nature nurture wellbeing

Studies have shown that incorporating natural designs into interiors has a positive effect on our wellbeing. As the largest single surface area, flooring can make an enormous impact. In this feature we explore the latest nature-inspired LVT and carpet collections.

Armed with over 160 years of knowledge and passion, Kährs have drawn from their expertise of working with wood to create CRAFT – a brand-new range of 6mm Click Luxury Vinyl Tiles, made up of three collections: Breeze, Nature and Nordic Classic. With an even greater focus on a natural appearance, the three collections include KКhrs’ most popular existing LVT wood design floors, as well as floors in brand-new colours and designs:

“The Nature Collection includes seven floors in vibrant colours,

inspired by the warm colours of dunes”

The Breeze Collection consists of six gentle colours ranging from light sandy tones to darker shades. A calm grade wood design enhances the serene look of the floors, with minimal knots and cracks.

The Nature Collection includes seven floors in vibrant colours, inspired by the warm colours of dunes, golden afternoon light and deep earthy tones. With a lively wood grading design, the floors feature visible cracks and knots.

The Nordic Classic Collection is the most rustic collection, including nine brand-new designs inspired by the landscape of northern Scandinavia. Prominent cracks and knots are skilfully enhanced by registered embossing for a truly authentic look and feel.

All floors feature the trusted Kährs ceramic surface, making them resistant to wear and tear. The 5G Click joint guarantees easy installation, while the SPC rigid core gives the floors outstanding strength and stability.

Sustainability continues to be at the forefront of people’s minds in 2022 and the Biophilic approach to design continues to grow, meaning that natural and rustic textures will still be a key trend in flooring.

Harvey Maria’s Master Craftsman Series of authentic wood planks is a collection of beautifully hand-crafted designs with ultrarealistic wood grain textures. The unique matte, tactile finish means that they feel natural to the touch, and because the planks have gone through a process known as In Register Embossing. This means that the structure of the top wear layer follows the design exactly, so that all planks look and feel just like natural wood – if you can see the knots, you will be able to feel them too. Short planks are still trending, with Natural Oak Parquet and Hurst Herringbone continuing to top sales - choose from mid-oaks to bleached-out planks to add depth and character to homes and projects.

For a beautifully authentic collection of crafted wood plank designs, combining rustic character with rugged practicality, the Natural Planks create the perfect backdrop for Nordic interiors and modern farmhouse styling.

“Short planks are still trending, with Natural Oak Parquet and
Hurst Herringbone continuing to top sales.”

Harvey Maria is really proud that the MSeries collection is recognised for its low impact on the environment in all aspects – production process, product composition, emissions & indoor air quality and sustainable

construction. At each stage of the design process from concept to completion, they have thought about where they can reduce the environmental impact of the floors now and in the years to come. With conscious design at the forefront of trending interior schemes, MSeries is a perfect option for both traditional and contemporary projects.

The new multiformat Knight Tile collection by Karndean Designflooring offers a desirable natural look of wood and stone alongside all the practical benefits of LVT and convenient format options.

The new multiformat Knight Tile collection by Karndean Designflooring offers a desirable natural look of wood and stone alongside all the practical benefits of LVT and convenient format options.

Stella Coyle, national retail sales manager at Karndean Designflooring, said: “Spending time in nature has been shown to have a positive impact on physical health and mental wellbeing so it follows that bringing organic colours and textures into our homes can improve our quality of life. “To help home decorators achieve a beautifully subtle, authentic looking floor that complements a relaxing colour palette, we have expanded our popular Knight Tile range to include a wider selection of contemporary mid and light toned designs,” she said.

“With a choice of full-sized tiles and herringbone planks, and options in both gluedown and rigid core formats, it’s now easier than ever to create a highly natural streamlined look even in challenging situations such as

uneven or drying surfaces or in upstairs rooms where acoustic performance is key,” said Stella.

“To help home decorators achieve a beautifully subtle, authentic looking floor that complements a relaxing colour palette,”

The versatile multiformat Knight Tile range presents 10 new wood (36”x6”), 12 new stone (12”x18”) and six herringbone (18”x3”) designs.

In addition, the collection introduces a rigid core format to 10 existing designs.

It’s simple to create the natural look of traditional flooring with LVT Wood and Stone designs from Amtico.

Woods add warmth to a space with their authentic grains, natural colours and realistic embossing/textures. Products with in-register

embossing enhance a floor’s appearance because the emboss follows the knots and grains to accurately represent real wood. Bold rustic finishes through to softer neutral designs add character to any room, and Amtico’s many laying patterns now include more wood designs in the ever-popular parquet pattern.

If an understated stone look is preferred for its enduring appeal, then Amtico LVT Stones are available in a variety of natural effects and tones, including new tumbled stone designs and pastel colouring – even those with a marble finish. Flowing surface textures add to Amtico Stones’ authenticity, with modern takes on traditional flagstone laying patterns helping to complete the look.

“As an alternative to real wood or stone, LVT has man
benefits, including being warmer underfoot, compatible with underfloor heating,”

Long-lasting LVT is the ideal way to achieve natural-effect flooring throughout a home. As an alternative to real wood or stone, LVT has many benefits, including being warmer underfoot, compatible with underfloor heating, and much easier to clean and maintain than real hard flooring. With Amtico’s Online Room Visualiser, it’s effortless to experiment with different ways to introduce natural effects using a variety of products and laying patterns.

Along with bringing warmth and versatility to a space, a neutral floor palette can instantly make a room feel cosy and comforting. A move that will work with a variety of decor styles while creating an inviting ambience.

The company’s flag ship range which achieves level 5 luxury carpet classification is made using premium UK wool in Adam Carpets own facility in Kidderminster. The 1/10th gauge construction provides a finer, pinpoint surface while the 2 ply yarn delivers better durability and appearance retention.

Lakeland Herdwick from Brockway brings together a range of timeless designs with warm, neutral colours. From striking statement stripes and checks to texturised loops and weaves this collection has a multitude of styles that will make the perfect addition to any interior.

This exceptional and beautiful range, in the very best of British tradition, is made from yarn comprising the wool of Herdwick sheep, native to the Cumbrian Fells in the Lake District. Brockway’s Lakeland Herdwick is soft underfoot whilst demonstrating the hardwearing and robust properties of the natural eco-sustainable wool from which it is made.

Grown in Cumbria, spun in Yorkshire and crafted in Kidderminster, Brockway Lakeland Herdwick carpets are authentically British. The appearance and rugged durability of the carpets results from the natural resilience of one of Britain’s best loved and hardiest sheep breeds.

Made of 100% undyed British wools in Herdwick’s uniquely natural pigmentation, the collections are available in neutral colourways to complement all schemes. Warm and cosy underfoot, yet also incredibly hardwearing, the subtle textures provide a timeless luxury feel.

Suitable for all rooms, staircases and landings in the home, the Lakeland Herdwick collection is the naturally discerning carpet of choice. Brockway’s Lakeland Herdwick collection is British Wool certified.

This new collection brings the subtle essence of tweed to the floor, with its skilful blending of shades making it a perfect backdrop for furnishings.

Keith Morgan sales director at Hugh Mackay, said: ‘Durham Tweed is ideal for either a country retreat or urban chic interiors and anywhere in between. This versatile collection has been inspired by the blend of shades used to create Harris Tweed.”

Durham Tweed blends subtle tones to create a beautiful palette of 16 colour options to make the perfect solution for any home. Sedna carpet is soft, luxurious and durable. It also saves sea life, as it made with Econyl regenerated nylon, a yarn made from recycled waste material such as old carpets and abandoned fishing nets collected from the bottom of the sea.

Every Sedna carpet helps to save thousands of beautiful sea creatures like sea turtles, dolphins and seals that will no longer get stuck in this
life-threatening waste. Moreover, Sedna carpet has an ECO FusionBac textile back, made from 100% recycled PET plastic bottles. Available in twelve natural colours, the new Oshun collection is named after patron saint of the Oshun River in Nigeria, which bears her name.
