An abundance of quality – Flooring One

Flooring One welcomed back their members to its exhibit at the Buying Groups National Flooring Show after a two-year absence.

The exclusive members area gave retailers the opportunity to view and give feedback on all the new ranges and initiatives with the emphasis on colour for 2022!


Kerry Twist, a British made, exclusive wool-rich twist collection was the hit for members with its keen price points and refreshing colour palette of delicately heathered colours, with highlights of best-selling greens and classic neutrals and greys whilst tapping into current homeware trends with offerings in gold and russet tones.


In addition, Luscious Velvet showcased an abundance of colour. A heavyweight velvet carpet made from bleach cleanable polyester yarn, the range features a total of 30 inspiring colours to pick from. Highlights include bold and luxurious tones such as mustard and racing green in a carpet that says modern luxury.


Wool rich Berber twist carpets introduced this year such as Carnoustie Tweed and Denmore Tweed which tend to be offered in natural rustic hues saw a well needed injection of colour including striking reds, blues and greens as well as a beautiful mulberry offering in Denmore Tweed.

Striking herringbone designs

Other hits included Adelphi and Purbeck Hills which both offered striking herringbone designs. Adelphi is a soft, elegant and contemporary chunky loop pile carpet made using 30% Tencel, a natural fibre produced from sustainably sourced wood while Purbeck Hills uses 100% undyed wool. 


The Flooring One members area of the show also provided a designated breakout zone for the team to deliver 1:1 sessions with the membership to go through the new Independent Retailers Hub. The Hub serves as a 24 hour online portal for the membership, providing live access to all the important documents, prices, promotions and updates from our suppliers and across the flooring industry. The Hub also offers the facility to place orders for own label ranges and also hosts the Flooring One Image Bank which gives members access to high-res imagery of all products in the Flooring One portfolio to assist with any digital or traditional marketing and ecommerce needs.

Flooring One showcased the luxurious Jules Flipo rug collection 


With its limited distribution, this was an excellent opportunity to offer a beautiful, contemporary collection of rugs manufactured on Wilton machines to the highest quality whilst also giving better margin opportunities and protection.


Flooring One Winning Suppliers

 

At the show Flooring One presented its annual Supplier of the Year awards as voted by its membership. Ulster Carpets won Carpet Supplier for the first time just ahead of The Cormar Carpet Co who came in second with Adam Carpets third.


Karndean Designflooring retained their Smooths Flooring award as did Mastercraft Rugs who were awarded Rugs Supplier of the Year.

Industry body unveils “Plan for Growth” to Government

The British Furniture Confederation (BFC), the public affairs umbrella body of furniture and beds, furnishings and flooring sector trade associations, has unveiled its new Plan for Growth. The document is said to support BFC’s advocacy across four key pillars: skills and education; trade and exports; standards and regulations; and the environment and circular economy. It has been developed over the past few months, the organisation says, evolving from a combination of position papers written by the associations’ executives and a comprehensive survey of their collective members.

Furniture spend up 2.4% with Barclaycard

Consumer card spending grew 1.0% year-on-year in February – lower than January’s 1.9% increase and less than the latest CPIH inflation rate of 3.9%, according to recent figures reported by Barclays. Floorcoverings up 0.6% in January

Based on data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), carpets and other floorcoverings saw inflation of 0.6% in January, though this is set against a 2.5% fall last month. In January of last year the same category saw a 0.5% decline.
