World focus for flooring creativity

The world’s biggest flooring event opens in Germany from January 10-13 under the title “Floor & More” as Domotex plays host to 1,400 exhibitors from over 60 countries. The show which fills 12 halls and 90,000 square metres at the huge Hannover Exhibition Grounds is expected to welcome up to 40,000 trade visitors over its four days.
The keynote theme at Domotex is AtMySphere – a term that describes the importance of floors for our overall sense of well-being. The special “Framing Trends” showcase in Hall 8 will explore every aspect of AtMySphere in a highly creative and inspiring manner. In addition, this keynote theme will permeate the atmosphere of every exhibition hall and be tangible everywhere at the show. Good room acoustics, heat insulation, a pleasant tactile experience, good climatic and health-promoting properties, sustainability as well as natural and aesthetic furnishing details: good floor coverings will be the focus of Domotex in 2020.
The Skilled Trades Corner “Treffpunkt Handwerk” craftsman’s corner in Hall 13 is a new feature for interior decorators, parquet and floor layers, painters and varnishers to network with colleagues, test innovative products and find out the latest solutions for application and installation technology.

The British Furniture Confederation (BFC), the public affairs umbrella body of furniture and beds, furnishings and flooring sector trade associations, has unveiled its new Plan for Growth. The document is said to support BFC’s advocacy across four key pillars: skills and education; trade and exports; standards and regulations; and the environment and circular economy. It has been developed over the past few months, the organisation says, evolving from a combination of position papers written by the associations’ executives and a comprehensive survey of their collective members.
Consumer card spending grew 1.0% year-on-year in February – lower than January’s 1.9% increase and less than the latest CPIH inflation rate of 3.9%, according to recent figures reported by Barclays. In anticipation of higher bills, consumers are said to be cutting back on essential outgoings, but still prioritising discretionary purchases, contributing to an uptick in optimism in the health of personal and household finances.
