Pattern book partnership at Headlam

A powerful new pattern book partnerhip has been launched by leading flooring distributors Headlam with new investment and plans for growth.
In 2023, Headlam acquired both PD Pattern Books and Melrose Interiors - two long-established Bradford-based businesses.
Now the staff of both businesses (pictured left) have been brought together to operate under one roof with the operations of PD Pattern Books in Eccleshill relocating to the Melrose Interiors facility in Wibsey, Bradford
The combined business has been rebranded as Spectrum Pattern Book Specialists.
PD Pattern Books has been based at the Stonehall Mills site in Eccleshill since 1983 – the mill was known as Whiteley’s Mills as it was once owned by Thomas Whiteley & Co. Founded in 1973, PD Pattern Books is one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of pattern books, sampling and other presentation materials for the flooring sector.
Melrose has been supplying the UK rug and flooring industry since 1968 and includes online & high street retailers amongst its customer base and has an inhouse pattern book and sampling department.
“Customers of PD Pattern and Melrose Interiors will benefit from the two businesses being brought together and operating under one roof.," said Headlam. "Investment will be made in new machinery and people which will increase production capacity to further improve the service for customers.”

The British Furniture Confederation (BFC), the public affairs umbrella body of furniture and beds, furnishings and flooring sector trade associations, has unveiled its new Plan for Growth. The document is said to support BFC’s advocacy across four key pillars: skills and education; trade and exports; standards and regulations; and the environment and circular economy. It has been developed over the past few months, the organisation says, evolving from a combination of position papers written by the associations’ executives and a comprehensive survey of their collective members.
Consumer card spending grew 1.0% year-on-year in February – lower than January’s 1.9% increase and less than the latest CPIH inflation rate of 3.9%, according to recent figures reported by Barclays. In anticipation of higher bills, consumers are said to be cutting back on essential outgoings, but still prioritising discretionary purchases, contributing to an uptick in optimism in the health of personal and household finances.
