The Carpet Foundation has announced that Steve Depport, head of the Metro Group, has agreed to join its board to represent retailers in place of Rob Harding of Greendale who has retired.
Steve has been at the Metro Group for ten years and prior to that held a senior sales role at Brintons.
"He brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the table as well as broad commercial experience," says Carpet Foundation chief Executive Andrew Stanbridge. "He has always been very supportive of the Carpet Foundation and, indeed, was highly supportive of, and helpful with, our dealings with Government during lockdown and the shenanigans with certain retailers staying open."
Steve commented: “I am delighted to join the Board of the Carpet Foundation. I first got involved with them when I was at Brintons and I firmly believe that the industry, and particularly independent retailers, need a voice.
"The expertise they have across the board from marketing and communications to technical advice and support is worth its weight in gold. They are continually striving to lead the way and keep our industry, and independent retailers, at the forefront of developments, as was most notably shown in their move to become ADR approved a few years ago – a move that is a massive boost for independent retailers,” he said.
