Flooring sales continue to surge to record levels, defying increasingly gloomy forecasts for the economy and household spending,
Latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) for March says sales were 26.8% higher than February, 155% higher than March 2021, up 160% on March 2020 and 105% higher than March 2019.
The data represents a 14-year high for flooring sales and the March figures are only the second time monthly sales have been above £280m.
Anecdotally, supplies report some flattening out on demand during April but the strength of this performance shows the strength of the pandemic's "pent-up demand" order book.
