Flooring retail inflation has dropped to the lowest rate for more than a year – down to 7% for September from 8.1% the previous month.
This compares to the U.K.'s overall retail price inflation of 10.1% and to the furniture sector as a whole which is still double that of flooring at 14%.
There continues to be a significant disparity between carpets where the annual inflation rate has dropped to 5.8% from 7% compared to smooth flooring where high raw material costs and shipping rates are a factor - rates for LVT, vinyl and other smooth dropped to 13.6% from 15.1%.
