National wholesaler Carpets & Flooring is the latest acquisition by Meditor, the British investment group that bought out Carpetright in 2019, to grow its position as a major force in UK flooring.
Carpetright CEO Wilf Walsh will step down from that role to head a new entity called Nestware Holdings Limited (NHL), formed by Meditor as the home of its flooring acquisitions which now comprise Carpet & Flooring, FlooringSupplies.co.uk, Contemporary Trade Flooring and Flooring Megastore, in addition to Carpetright.
Carpet & Flooring has 11 sites around the UK including a head office and distribution centre in Redditch with has a turnover of around £100m. Lisa Tomlin, CEO of Carpet & Flooring, will continue to lead the business along with her existing management team. Lisa Tomlin, CEO, Carpet & Flooring commented: “I believe NHL is the ideal owner to ensure Carpet & Flooring is able to realise its growth potential and I look forward to working with their team to help that happen.”
The company said: "This addition will extend NHL’s reach into the contract and business-to-business flooring space and presents excellent growth potential, alongside valuable synergies in operations and logistics."
Mr Walsh, now Chairman of NHL, added: “We’re pleased to be adding Carpet & Flooring into NHL and feel the business will sit well beside our current brands. I look forward to working with Lisa in my new role as Chairman, and to continuing to strengthen the NHL stable with further acquisitions.”
Carpetright is now looking for a successor as CEO but Mr Walsh will continue to head the business in the meantime.
