Domotex plans carpets-only show dates

Domotex, the world's largest flooring show, is all set to switch to its new two-year cycle in Hannover in January which alternates a carpets-only edition with the full all-sector event.
From 2025 and in all odd-numbered years, the Domotex Carpets & Rugs Edition will take place exclusively for the world of carpets. In 2026, as in all even years, Domotex will once again bring together the entire international floor coverings industry under one roof.
"It was important for us to focus entirely on the needs of the industry," explains Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Global Director of Domotex Events worldwide. "In close consultation with our top exhibitors and the market, we have developed a strategy to make The Carpets & Rugs Edition as compact and efficient as possible."
In what the organiser describe as "four days of efficient business," the first Domotex Carpets & Rugs Edition will take place from 16 to 19 January 2025. "To this end, we have adapted our supporting programme for carpets and rugs, and planned new special formats and networking opportunities," says Sonia. "Our aim is to provide all participants with a focused and productive show from which they can derive the greatest possible benefit."
The show in Hannover has been exploring ways to recover its momentum since it re-launched in 2022 after two years of Covid closures. While the event was heralded as a "full success" by organisers Deutsche Messe, visitor numbers were around 20,000 compared to 35,000 pre-pandemic and exhibitors were down around 50%.

The British Furniture Confederation (BFC), the public affairs umbrella body of furniture and beds, furnishings and flooring sector trade associations, has unveiled its new Plan for Growth. The document is said to support BFC’s advocacy across four key pillars: skills and education; trade and exports; standards and regulations; and the environment and circular economy. It has been developed over the past few months, the organisation says, evolving from a combination of position papers written by the associations’ executives and a comprehensive survey of their collective members.
Consumer card spending grew 1.0% year-on-year in February – lower than January’s 1.9% increase and less than the latest CPIH inflation rate of 3.9%, according to recent figures reported by Barclays. In anticipation of higher bills, consumers are said to be cutting back on essential outgoings, but still prioritising discretionary purchases, contributing to an uptick in optimism in the health of personal and household finances.
