Quick-Step has announced its Alpha Vinyl collection of premium vinyl flooring has been certified by SCS Global Services for its pre-consumer recycled content. All Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl floors are now certified to contain a minimum 22% (SCS-RC-20323), excluding Blos Base and Oro Base which achieve 21% (SCS-RC-20325).
Quick-Step has achieved this content by using recycled materials from other industries and waste material produced during the manufacturing process. Quick-Step has its own recycling facility that takes all its production offcuts and recycles them into new backing material. Through Unilin’s Recover programme, it also uses post-consumer waste using offcuts and old floors.
Niall Cassidy, Sales Regions Manager UK & Ireland for Quick-Step, says: “By including pre-consumer recycled content in the production of Alpha Vinyl we reduce the use of new PVC without compromising quality, ensuring that every floor gives a long life and back this up with a 25-year warranty.”
Quick-Step is striving to increase the amount of recycled content in its Alpha Vinyl range and has set a target for at least 40% pre-consumer recycled content by 2030.
Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl was tested for recycled content in accordance with SCS Recycled Content Standard V8-0. Certification is available on request.
