Burmatex gains strength after slow Q2
UK commercial flooring specialist AIREA plc saw sales fall 5.6% in the first half of 2024 but trade is starting to improve.
In its latest trading update for the six months ended 30 June 2024, the makers of Burmatex said Q1 sales started well but there was an unexpected slowdown in Q2.
UK sales were only marginally down but international trade took a 22% hit due to "ongoing economic and geopolitical concerns".
However, the company added: “There has been an encouraging start to the third quarter, with positive trading in July and finishing with a strong order book, especially for our low-carbon and carbon-neutral products.”
AIREA says its the major investment in its manufacturing facility in Ossett, West Yorkshire, announced in January, remained on track to be completed in early 2025.
