Furlong is bouncing in to take the wool market by storm

Harrogate Review • October 11, 2024

One of the best kept secrets in the industry finally got told as the Flooring Show opened its doors. Mainstream man-made powerhouse Furlong Flooring bounces into the wool business and the market knows this will be something special.

Timeless is the title of this major marketing initiative and it starts with two 80/20 twist ranges “inspired by nature”– Timeless Classic and a trade-up Deluxe.

“We developed the ranges on a need-to-know basis and were amazed we were able to keep the secret right up until the show opened,” jokes sales director Ian Collacott. “We wondered what the reaction would be and it has been great. Retailers know they can trust us to deliver ready-made best sellers.”

The market knows Furlong don’t do things by halves and many will remember how the smooths category was launched and quickly became a market leading portfolio of LVTs, laminates and wood.

With wool, twist was the obvious place to start for Furlong. “We are a volume supplier and stock in depth to give that fast service retailers need,” says Ian. “Retailers want products they can trust in the best selling section of the market.”

Utilising Furlong Flooring’s UK wide distribution network, they are promising exemplary service and of course, attractive pricing. The launch has been well thought through and the carpet benefits from flexible and installation friendly CombiBac, available in 4 and 5m widths whilst offering a 10-year wear warranty and being moth resistant.

Taking a leaf out of the designer paint portfolios, the 16 colours of Timeless Wool are segmented into three categories – light & airy, deep & dramatic, calm & cosy – and options have fashionable alliterative names like Light Lace, Pure Pebble and Tranquil Truffle!

Furlong has been busy at work elsewhere across its extensive portfolio and key developments in its man-made carpets and in the smooths division were revealed at Harrogate.

Flagship Carefree Twist and Carefree Ultra have had their colourbanks transformed with eight of their 16 colours being swapped out for the latest on-trend tones across plains and heathers. And the yarn construction is now Furlongs EcoSense 100% recycled PP.

In smooths, Furlong’s big news is the launch of Universal Clic which bridges the gap between laminate and wood flooring. This is entry-level engineered wood flooring at its best and most accessible with a 3mm real wood veneer layer in six decors.
